Summary
El Azteca Housing Complex finds a lineage in both the cultural and environmental history of Laredo. Once a thriving, 23-plaza district, downtown Laredo has retained only five of its original plazas. By basing the 50-unit affordable housing complex around the concept of a plaza, our architects borrowed historical forms that have promoted community and cohesion for generations. As a riverfront development, the complex is located on the upper banks of the Rio Grande overlooking Nuevo Laredo.
