Able City’s Development Coordinator Paola Sofia Fernandez participated in VIA’s Annual Codeathon. Paola and her team placed 1st in the Open Innovation Challenge and awarded VIA Innovation Award and Fan Favorite Award. They created a machine learning automated passenger counter. Their goal was to increase rideability, creating a tool that would acquire, integrate and analyze data to understand and improve urban systems and quality of life. This data has the potential of creating strategies for a more frequent and reliable mass transit service that connects communities and meets the community needs.
